Eastern Carolina Foot & Ankle Specialists is a full service facility dedicated to the care and treatment of the foot and ankle. We offer same day appointments, in-office x-rays and a variety of other services. It is your “One Stop Location” for care of the foot and ankle. We treat patients in the Greenville, North Carolina and surrounding areas like Rocky Mount, North Carolina. We have three Podiatry Doctors to better serve all of our patients’ needs.Our Board Certified/Board Eligible physicians are dedicated to the field of Podiatry and have extensive training in all aspects of foot and ankle care, from surgery and trauma to routine care and biomechanics.
We offer convenient appointment times and work with your primary care provider to ensure coordinated care of your problem. Our modern, fully furnished office includes in house x-rays and surgical privileges to local hospitals and surgery centers. We also staff outpatient clinics in Windsor (Bertie Memorial Hospital) and Ahoskie (Northeast Carolina Diabetes Center).
We are on staff at East Carolina University – Brody School of Medicine, as part of ECU Physicians, Department of Endocrinology at the Problem Foot Clinic.
Meet Our Physicians
Christopher J. Gauland, DPM – Originally from Long Island, New York. He studied at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada before receiving his undergraduate degree in Biology (Physiology) from East Carolina University. After receiving his degree; he received is Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from Temple University – College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Gauland then completed his surgical residency training at both the Midwest Medical Center – Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana and the Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, Illinois. His clinical interests are in Sports Medicine, Trauma, Ankle and Foot Arthroscopy and Ulcer and Wound Care. Dr. Gauland’s hobbies and curricular activities include bike riding, sailing, lacrosse and alumni affairs with East Carolina University.

Kenneth Rosenthal, DPM – Transferred to Greenville, North Carolina from the Washington, DC area where he had been in practice in Northern Virginia for 10 years. During that time, he actively participated in resident teaching, as well as clinical practice. Dr. Rosenthal was formerly the podiatry section chief at his local hospital. He is a Maryland native who attended Pennsylvania State University and Temple University of Podiatric Medicine where he received his podiatry degree. He then completed a 3 year residency program at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, specializing in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. Dr. Rosenthal is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. His clinical interests include reconstructive surgery and surgical correction of bunions and hammertoes. Dr. Rosenthal’s outside interests include spending time with his family, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and muscle cars.

Jonathan O’Quinn, DPM, MS – Originally from Durham, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Master’s degree in Physiology from North Carolina State University. Dr. O’Quinn then received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed three years of medical and surgical residency training in Foot and Ankle surgery through the Department of Orthopedics at The Cleveland Clinic. His clinical interests are diabetic limb salvage and wound care, injuries of the foot and ankle, dermatology, and correction of bunions, hammertoes, and other foot deformities. Dr. O’Quinn enjoys cooking, hiking, and target shooting and he is actively involved with Wildlife Rehabilitation, is a member of Oakmont Baptist Church, and a writer for The Creation Research Society.
